| Libera Me Part I |

Title: Libera Me Fandom: Blood Ties Pairing: Will be Mike/Henry and maybe Mike/Vicki Rating: T like suitable for Teens? Spoilers: 5:55 Word count: 1847 Disclaimer: Not mine. Summary: Mike gets turned by Henry during the events of 5:55. A/N: This fic was inspired by a BT vid. luvinmike pointed me to EstelKenobi's alternate ending for 5.55 and the idea to turn Mike got stuck in my head. And yes I wrote a fic with a title that references 'Interview with the Vampire'. Please hit me for being a walking cliché. Thanks for beta-reading luvinmike!

[25 Jan 2008|04:26am] |
Title: Ascension Part 2 Fandom: Blood Ties Category: Okay, it’s a little bit more slashy now (Mike/Henry); TVverse Rating: R? M? Sorry, I don’t much care about ratings. It’s nothing explicit, but I’d say the subject matter itself might be offensive to some people, I guess. Spoilers: Deep Dark. Word count: 2700 Disclaimer: Not mine. Neither Blood Ties and its characters, nor Stargate and its characters. Summary: Henry and Mike go undercover in a BDSM club. A/N: Characters from Stargate SG-1 will be guest starring as members of Ascension. So far only Vala is mentioned indirectly. ETA: Now beta-read by luvinmike. Thank you!

[23 Jan 2008|02:27am] |
Title: Ascension Part 1 Author: Alanna ‘I want the final cut!’ Smithee Category: It will be hopefully, eventually Slash (Mike/Henry), but nothing happens yet in this part, really nothing; TVverse Spoilers: Deep Dark Word count: 1400 Disclaimer: Not mine. Summary: Henry and Mike go undercover in a BDSM club. A/N: I usually don’t post unfinished stories, but I don’t really know, where I want to go with this one, and I’d actually like some opinions. Well I have some scenes in mind for the club, but unfortunately Henry and Mike just keep talking and talking in my head. And talking. They just won't shut up. I'll probably post the next part tomorrow. Of Mike and Henry talking. In a BDSM club. ETA: Now beta-read by luvinmike. Thank you!

kyuuketsukirui wrote a pretty interesting rant about Atlantis being depicted as sentient in fanfic. It's here. I really wanted to comment on it, but it's friendslocked, so I'm writing a comment post. In case you're reading this: I'm sorry you were trolled. *wave*
I personally really like the idea of Atlantis being sentient. I think artificial intelligence is generally an intriguing idea (and well, one of the 9 standard sci-fi plots). But I totally agree with kyuuketsukirui that there is absolutely no evidence of it in the show. While I like the idea, I've read some stories (not all of them, some are fun) that had really horrible characterizations of Atlantis. I don't know what's worse: yenta, mother or grabby, needy mary-sueish character. I think the mother thing bugs me most. Wouldn't an artificial intelligence be emotionally colder than all those awful female stereotypes suggest? Or at least have a really sketchy, strange grasp of emotions humans might not understand?
It never bothered me that Atlantis is always female. I thought, in the english language (which is not my mother language) all cities were female (am I wrong?). Also in my language boats and cars are not female, they do not have a gender, so for me it wasn't a case of the city being female because it's an object. I don't think it's demeaning in itself that something as powerful and beautiful as Atlantis is depicted as female. It sort of makes sense for me in an archane earth-goddess land-should-be-female-because-it-is-fertile way. Maybe I read too much Marion Zimmer Bradley in my formative years. *Hides under desk.*
I am a slasher. I am into the John/Atlantis thing. I actually wrote a fic where the city is 'sort of' male and hereby pimp it. Because het sex scenes? Eeew! And yeah, it is sort of strange that there aren't more stories, where Atlantis is male (if it has to have a gender at all).

Title: Men and Machines Fandom: Stargate Atlantis Pairing: McKay/Sheppard; Sheppard/Atlantis Rating: NC-17 Spoilers: Just season 1 I think, but nothing really specific. Author’s notes: Takes part after some non-canon crisis during the second year. The Genii try to take over the city again. I don’t want to spoil too much. I’ll just say that I think this is an example of totally trashy sci-fi. I’m almost ashamed to post it. But only almost, after all it’s not often that I actually finish a fic.
The fic is posted over at sga_flashfic.

| Review: When Ronon Converted by dossier |

I'm barely writing into this journal and nobody is reading it. But I still have the urge to review this story, which I thought was totally funny and unusual. I found it at Wraithbait: http://www.wraithbait.com/viewstory.php?sid=10341
It's Rodney/Ronon, a pairing I usually don't read. I'm actually not that much of a Ronon fan, but I liked how he was written in this story.
So Ronon discovers Christianity, Rodney is not impressed. "That is, Rodney was dismissive until Ronon broke up with him, because Ronon couldn’t rectify their homosexual relationship with The Word..."
I love how Ronon's life on Atlantis and his 'discovery' of Earth religion are described. The ending is totally fitting, but I'm not spoiling.

I only watched a couple of episodes of Grey's Anatomy. It's not quite my type of show, not enough explosions, I guess. But yesterday I had quite a shock when I looked into my tv guide. I'd forgotten that Dr. Grey's first name is Meredith. And the name of her love interest is Dr. Shepherd.
Quite a coincidence.

| Treason (Blade II, Blade/Scud) |
[01 Jul 2006|01:50am] |
Title: Treason Fandom: Blade II Rating: NC-17 Pairing: Blade/Scud Summary: Short and pointless wall smut without any redeeming qualities. Notes: This is a really, really old fic. It sat on my hard drive for years and it’s not even beta read (sorry!). It got kicked off ff.net when they kicked off all the slash a few years back after a really short period of being online (only one or two months!). I guess it’s a quite unusual fandom, but I decided to post it anyway, since it fits the challenge so well. It helps to know the plot of Blade II, but of course you can just read it for the smut. Challenge: Not written for but submitted to Hot, Hard and Up Against the Wall!!

I love Swiss TV. I just caught the last third of X-men (part 1). I missed to tape it, when it came on German TV a few weeks back. *grrr* If it wasn't for the European Song Contest, I might have even caught it earlier. Stupid me, to watch such a show, but I got used to it over the years. Every year I get to bitch over how bad the songs are.

We all know Brenda Antrim is a goddess. She gifted us with a few X-men fics, too. http://www.bantrim.net/Xmen.html
"Liquid Sunshine" is a fun story, in which Scott drinks a little bit too much of Logan's morning OJ (consisting mostly of vodka) and they have sex on the floor of the danger room. In "Mine" Scott follows Logan to Canada to get his bike back, unfortunately Magneto finds them and tries to use Wolverine's body to kill Scott. It all leads to Scott and Logan having sex on the floor of the danger room. (Do we have a pattern here, or what?) I'd so like to see this story continue, because it leaves an unanswered question: What would Jean say? In "Unfinished Business" Logan returns (from wherever he was) and screws Scott on the motorcycle. Fucking hot.
I find both her Scott and her Logan quite in character, but of course I'm really no expert on characterization

Today I discovered my new passion for X-men slash. Somehow I stumbled over Saraid's fic. I'm certain I was searching for something else. I especially loved "Coming Home". It's Professor Xavier/Logan and really sweet. Charles helps Logan deal with his nightmares and they become lovers in the process. Scott is really pissed of about it, though. I'd really like to know what the Professor said to him the morning after he picked the fight with Logan during which Logan "sacrificed the batter" and broke his own arm to get free of Scott's hold. The little masochist... "Sick" was good, too. Again, it's Professor Xavier/Logan. Logan catches some kind of genetically engineered virus at an old military compound, and the X-men don't know whether he will survive or his healing ability will give out first. No, and I'm not telling, either :) She has a couple more stories. Check it out. http://www.squidge.org/~pumpkin/saraid/xmen.htm
I think I'm addicted. So my 3-year obsession with Sentinel slash finally got to an end. X-men is my only true love now. (Oh god, how that sounds!!!) Okay, to be honest, me thinks there just weren't enough posts anymore to 852 Prospect for some time and the characters sort of got boring for the last few months. I just needed a diversion. Unfortunely there's a little problem. I don't think, there's enough X-men slash to keep me afloat for the next 3 years.
Added Mo., 09.06.2003: By now I know there are not that many Professor X/Logan-stories out there, so these two from Saraid are even more remarkable
